Betty died at the beginning of November after a struggle with cancer. She had been on the World Shine Board since 2011. She was very involved in prayer and intercession with World Shine as well as in the life of her own church.
She was responsible for establishing houses of prayer in Kampala. The ministry to children was particularly close to her heart. Her advice was much valued by the Board. Many ministry visitors to Uganda enjoyed the hospitality of her home.
We extend our sympathy to her husband, Geoffrey, who has himself been a very generous supporter the ministry, and their family as they mourn her loss. She will be much missed.
Margaret, who was Vice-Chair of the World Shine Ministries Board in Uganda, died suddenly on 1st December having taken a severe stroke. She had been on the Board since 2004. Margaret was a nurse who worked devotedly to deliver health care to those in need. Her clinic in Kampala is supported by friends from World Shine USA.
Rev Dr Medad Birungi who worked closely with Margaret spoke of the deep sense of lost felt by those involved with World Shine Ministries. He said of Margaret: “She was my prayer partner and my wife’s closest friend. Margaret was a loving woman who loved people unconditionally and selflessly. She was resilient, courageous, generous, compassionate and deeply spiritual. She was an evangelist who had an eagle’s anointing and was a great intercessor and a prophet.
I travelled with her on missions to Finland, UK, USA, Sudan, South Africa, Kenya, Rwanda and other nations. She had a big heart for revival and for the lost. She loved the church and did whatever it takes to see the church flourish. She loved her children and grandchildren and had a big forgiving heart. We shall all miss her.”
We commend Margaret’s close family and friends into the care of the God of all comfort.
